A tip of the hat to the Greater Mandeville Seafood Association.
The group not only provides a fun-filled four-day event for parish
residents and others, but also doles out some pretty big bucks to
local non-profit organizations.
More than $64,000 raised during this year's 28th Annual Mandeville
Seafood Festival was presented recently to 19 recipients. Mary Bird
Perkins Cancer Center received $20,000; Pops Performing Arts got
$11,929.40; the Mandeville Trailhead and St. Tammany Parish Hospital
Foundation each were awarded $5,000; $4,350 was given to World
Harvest Outreach; the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Reserves received
$2,500; the Mandeville Police Department got $2,000; and 11 other
agencies received anywhere from $234.13 to $1,000.
We thank the association for these contributions, which help make
our community a better place to live. And we wish them much
continued success in the future.
