The La. Cattle Festival has been a
member of LAFF for 51 years. Neal Horaist was a board member of LAFF
from 1992- 1995 where he worked on various committees including
essay contest, convention, and legislative committees. He then
became vice-president in 1996-97 when he put on one of the best
conventions ever. From 1997-98 he served as president of LAFF and
assisted all committee chairmen throughout the year. Neal is still
working for the betterment of LAFF as evidenced by the fact that he
is still Co-chairperson of the LAFF convention 2000. Neal's proudest
moment was when he received his gold medallion and became a member
of the elite and prestigious "Past Presidents" club.
Barbara T. Horaist served on the board of LAFF from 1986-87 and has
served as chairperson or assistant chairperson of the essay contest
since 1978. She has served as treasurer of LAFF since 1990 and has
thoroughly enjoyed working with the fairs and festivals of
Louisiana. She has served on many committees including the
decorating committee and the site selection committee. She is
currently assisting with the pageant committee. She was honored to
receive the LAFF "Volunteer of the Year" award in 1999.
Neal has been involved in the Louisiana Cattle Festival since 1987.
He served as board member for one year and became vice-president in
1989. He was elected president in 1990 and still serves in that
capacity today. He is a hands-on president and works in all aspects
of the festival. One of his greatest honors was to receive the
"Festival of the Year award in 1999 for the Louisiana Cattle
Festival.
Barbara has been involved with the Louisiana Cattle Festival all
her life, since she was born the year it was founded as the
Louisiana Dairy Festival by her father Roy R. Theriot. She has been
serving on the board of directors since 1973 and has been pageant
chairperson since that time. She was also secretary/ treasurer for a
number of years and has worked in all facets of the festival
unselfishly. |
