  1. Attorney for Calcasieu Cameron Fair Association (1960-1977)
  2. President/General Manager Cal-Cam Fair (1973-1977)

  4. State President LAFF for two consecutive years (1974-1976)
  5. Secretary -Treasurer LAFF (1976-1977)
  6. During term as LAFF President:
    1. Designed and formatted a LAFF Fair and Festival Guide Book winning 1st Place at the International Assn. Of Fair and Festival for three consecutive years.
    2. In cooperation with the Louisiana Department of Tourism, established a matching funds program between the State and LAFF to publicize the fairs and festivals of the state.
    3. In cooperation with U. S. Senator Russell Long was instrumental in having a bill passed by the U. S. Congress exempting fairs and festivals from paying taxes on unrelated income associated with fair and festival production.  The IAFE Fairs and Expositions publication Volume 18, Number 9, dated October 1976 Headline story described the legislation as being “the most important ever passed on behalf of the industry.”  In an editorial on the subject the following is found:

“The list of fairs and individuals that worked hard is a long one.  It is too long to include in this small space.  One IAFE member should, however, be singled out.”

            “He is Jeron J. La Fargue, of the Calcasieu Cameron Fair, Sulphur, La. and immediate past-president of the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals.  In support of this measure, Mr. La Fargue spent much time including a visit to Washington personally meet with important members of Congress.  Fairs owe much to this dedicated fair executive.”

    1. Began LAFF participation in the tourist development industry.
