E. E. Puls

CHARTER MEMBER - - 1991

A Past President and a member of L.A.F.F. since 1935,Dr. E. E. Puls has the distinction of having attended the first meeting of the Association, which was held in Jennings, LA, with Harry D. Wilson serving as President. Dr. Puls served on the Board of Directors for many years and has acted as Parliamentarian for board meetings and conventions under numerous administrations.

Dr. Puls began his active career in fairs and festivals with the Loranger Community Fair while in high school, serving as chairman. While a teacher of vocational agriculture in Independence, he organized the Independence Spring Fair, which ran successfully until World War II interrupted it.

An educator, he began his teaching career as an elementary teacher at age 19 and has served as teacher and principal of Shady Grove School, Sweetwater and Tickfaw. He has also been a Principal at Loranger High School.        He served as Supervisor in Tangipahoa Parish and also served as a supervisor in the State Department of Education.

While a teacher at Independence High School, he was honored as the "Master Teacher in Louisiana in the Vocational Division".  He moved into the college professorial ranks as Dean of Applied Sciences at Southeastern Louisiana university in Hammond.

            Dr. Puls has served on the board of the Southeastern Louisiana Dairy Association since its organization in 1945.  He has served as President of that association for many years.

. He served as a Board Member of the Tangipahoa Parish Fair since its reorganization and has also been President of that association. He wrote a history of the Tangipahoa Parish Fair, discovering in the process that the first fair in Tangipahoa Parish was held in Amite nearly 100 years ago!

In 1986, the L.A.F.F. Board of Directors dedicated the Annual Convention to Dr. Puls and, in 1988, the Tangipahoa Parish Fair was dedicated to him in gratitude for his work and dedication through the years.

Dr. Puls is also active with the Southeast Louisiana Dairy Festival in Tangipahoa Parish, another event which has benefited from his wide-range of experience and knowledge.
