Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival

The World Famous Crawfish Festival began in 1960 as a spin-off of the Breaux Bridge Centennial Celebration. The Louisiana Legislature had just named Breaux Bridge the Crawfish Capital of the World in 1959. Every first full weekend in May, thousands of people flock to Breaux Bridge to be a part of the festivities. All weekend long you can dance to the sounds of Cajun, Zydeco and Swamp Pop music on three stages and smell the Crawfish cooked everyday imaginable from the food vendors. You can either watch or participate in the Cajun & Zydeco dance contest, Crawfish eating contest, Crawfish Races, Cajun Dance lessons & Crawfish Étouffée Cookoff. Be sure to watch the parade, visit the Arts & Crafts booths, and ride the carnival rides!
