Alex River Fete is Alexandria's signature spring festival, held each year in downtown Alexandria, LA, along the banks of the Red River. It began in 2013 as a city-led initiative to create a flagship celebration that would highlight the region's arts, culture, and heritage while revitalizing downtown. The festival was envisioned as a way to bring locals and visitors together through shared experiences, such as live music, art, food, and community spirit, and to build upon Alexandria's identity as a river city with deep cultural roots.

Since its inception, Alex River Fete has grown into a three-day celebration that typically begins on a Thursday evening and continues through Saturday. Anchored by events such as Dinner on the Bricks, ArtFete, Que'in on the Red and the Indie Village vendor market, the festival fills the streets of downtown with art displays, live performances, food vendors and family activities.

Established in 1976, the Amite Oyster Festival was founded by a group of local citizens to honor the oyster industry and the many oyster houses that once defined the town of Amite. Over the past 50 years, the festival has grown and evolved, becoming a beloved annual tradition held the 3rd weekend in March. Our festival offers something for everyone - from thrilling rides and live music, to arts & crafts vendors, delicious food and oysters in every style imaginable! Each year, festivities begin with the popular Scavenger Hunt, followed by the brunch & fashion show. Excitement continues into the following weekend with the elegant Amite Oyster Gala, where guests enjoy live music, mouthwatering chargrilled oysters, and a silent auction featuring local artwork and unique items. Take a step back in time to April 9, 1864 to Pleasant Hill, LA, where the Civil War was brought to this quiet village's front door. This event is the largest living history event in Louisiana where visitors are encouraged to learn about the history of our local area and state. Live action re-enactments, historical demonstrations, historic shopping on sutler's row, and 1860s era ball, school day, crowning ceremony for our Miss Battle of Pleasant Hill and more are sure to draw you into a time long gone but not forgotten.

We are one of the oldest running Agricultural fairs in the state of Louisiana. The Berwick Lighthouse Festival is everything you love about a true small-town celebration. From the moment you arrive, you'll find hometown charm around every corner - rides, live bands, delicious food, and talented craft vendors filling the weekend with fun.

Every year on July 4th, Bogalusa celebrates both the city’s birthday and Independence Day. The Louisiana Paper Queen, sponsored by the American Legion Post 24, plays a central role in the festivities. The celebration kicks off with the Ball, held the weekend before the 4th of July, and continues with a lively parade on July 4th honoring both the nation’s independence and the city’s founding. The celebration concludes with a breathtaking firework show. The queen proudly represents the Veterans of Bogalusa, Independence Day, and the paper industry that has long been a cornerstone of the community.

The Boucherie and Balloon Festival is a deeply rooted festival with a cajun flare located in Ascension Parish. We have over 60 Cracklin and Jambalaya cooks that compete in our cookouts to keep the tradition of cooking pork alive in our area. The world-famous Crawfish Festival began in 1960 as a spin-off of the Breaux Bridge Centennial Celebration. The Louisiana Legislature had just named Breaux Bridge the Crawfish Capital of the World in 1959. Every first full weekend in May, thousands of people flock to Breaux Bridge to be part of the festivities. All weekend long you can dance to the sounds of Cajun, Zydeco and Swamp pop music on 3 stages and smell the Crawfish cooked every way imaginable from the food vendors. The Festival of the Bonfires celebrates the cherished Christmas Eve Tradition we have in St. James Parish. We consider it a prelude to our Christmas Eve night. Christmas Eve is always a busy time gathering with family that not many people have the opportunity to experience the bonfires. We make sure to light a bonfire on both Friday and Saturday night of our festival to allow those near and far to experience this one of a kind tradition. We also have a fireworks show after Saturday night's lighting, just like Christmas Eve. Friday night, we have a huge gumbo cook off of three categories, including our famous Red Bean Gumbo. People from all over the parish come to enjoy great food and all you can eat gumbo. We have amazing food and bands all weekend long, layered in with our Children's Pageant, Miss and Teen Pageant, and local performances. The International Rice Festival is one of the largest and oldest agricultural festivals in the state of Louisiana and celebrated its 88th year in October of 2025. Our mission is to honor and celebrate the hardworsing farmer who put food on tables throughout the world. This festival has become a long-standing tradition in the City of Crowley, allowing our community as well as visitors from around the world, to experience the southern hospitality Louisiana has to offer.


Along with our many food vendors, the world-class carnival and other events such as our parades, rice eating contest and car show, the entertainment lineup is sure to attract attendees from Louisiana as well as out of state. Remaining an admission free event plays a big role in the attendance of the Festival and our hope is to keep it this way for many years to come with the help of our generous community partners.

The Festival kicks off in September with the Annual Rice Poker Run, Car Show and Rice & Gravy Cookoff. During the Festival weekend, attendees can participate in many additional activities and events such as the Children's Parade, Fiddle and Accordion Contest, the Rice Festival Queen's Contest, Rice Eating Contest, Frog Derby and Grand Parade. The two sound stages are also filled with live entertainment Thursday through Saturday while the streets are lined with delicious food from local vendors.

The Iowa Rabbit Festival started in 1986 to promote a local rabbit processing plant and has grown to be one of the top 20 events in the Southeastern United States. Knights riding horseback at neck-breaking speeds around a semicircular quarter mile track, carrying long slender lances, the daring knights attempt to spear and retain all seven of the small rings that are suspended on posts around the track. The Sugarland Music & Arts Festival, produced by the Assumption Foundation for the Arts, is a yearly festival in the heart of Louisiana sugar country in Napoleonville, Assumption Parish, Louisiana. We feature an indoor main stage with 14 hours of CONTINUOUS live music, an indoor market stage with our local Assumption Parish student musicians and artists performing throughout the day, an indoor and outdoor arts & artisans market, fun for the kids and family, delicious food and beverages from local cooks and commercial food and beverage truck vendors and more! SMAF is the first weekend in August every year at the Assumption Parish Community Center.

Hosted by social media sensation StaleKracker, the Cajun Two Step Fest in Kentwood, Louisiana, is a high-energy celebration of Bayou culture. This family-friendly event features the SCCA Louisiana State Championship crawfish cook-off, where dozens of teams compete in boiling elite crawfish, gumbo and jambalaya.

Attendees enjoy all-you-can-eat seafood, live Cajun and Zydeco music, activities for kids, and local vendor booths. Growing rapidly in popularity, the festival attracted approximately 8,000 visitors in 2025 and served 17,000 pounds of crawfish.

The Italian Festival is a celebration of our Italian heritage and culture held annually in Tickfaw the last full weekend in April. This long standing, cultural tradition of celebrating our Italian ancestors started in Independence in 1973 and continues to thrive because of the support of our community and the strong Italian roots that bind us together. The festival features delicious Italian and American food, amusement rides, great musical entertainment, and arts and crafts all in a safe and family oriented atmosphere.
